Welcome to the Middle Raccoon River!

Meeting us at the Dam in Redfield, leaving your vehicles behind  we will transport you up river to your desired length of time.  There are 5 different drop off points, depending upon how long or short of paddle you wish the trip to be.  You will then, paddle down river to where your vehicle is located and depart from there.  Whether you are looking for a 4 hour float or a 2 day float we can accomodate.

The full length trip starts up river approximately 17 miles at Lennon Mills in Panora.  Camp Riverside is roughly 4 hours downstream.  It's a great place to pitch the tents, and enjoy the riverside campgrounds.  There are many camping spots to choose from, you can be extremely isolated back in the trees where the hammocks come in handy or right along the river banks out in the open.  There are 6 electrical units available and 30 primitive camp spots to choose from and firewood can be purchased there.

From camp paddle on down to your vehicles in Redfield from Camp Riverside.  The average group will float 4-5 hours, depending on water levels and number of pit stops.  It's a great way to spend the weekend outdoors!

The Middle Raccoon is the perfect river for the beginner to aquire their skills.  The slow pace, shallow waters and sandbars make it a nice peaceful relaxed float.  It's nice to get away from the busy work week and just kick back in the sun with good friends or family and just have a nice relaxing time. Enjoy the Iowa Outdoors.

Entrance to "Camp Riverside" owned by Kelly Pierce and located on the back side of Cowles Access.  The grass is turning green, fire pits are ready therefore it's time to camp! Grab your friends and enjoy the weekend!

* Kayak one of Iowa's protected rivers.

* Numerous sand bars great for camping and fishing.

* Custom packages available for the out-of-ordinary kayaking & camping weekends.  Feel like taking the wheel flying an ultra-light plan or tandem skydiving from 10,000 feet.....or you can visit a local spot for Live Country & Bluegrass bands on Saturday nights.  Most however just kick back and relax with friends around campfire....whatever floats your boat.  Just have a good time!

* Located west of Des Moines approximately 40 minutes.
(Exit 100 west of Des Moines off I-80, head north 10 minutes to the Dam in Redfield) There is also a Casey's general store in Redfield for picking up last minute supplies.  After kayaking enjoy "Harry's Pizza" in Redfield, gotta love a pizza joint that uses Grazziano's sausage, if you like it spicy then try their "Steam Train".

Breanna, 8 years old, had a great time floating with her dad in late August.  A great relaxing place for family & friends!

Taken from the bridge at Camp Riverside (Cowles Access) during a Tornado watch, the river was a bit swollen. But makes for a fun ride in early spring.
